Current Bulletin - March

March Break is a great time for kids to engage in a favourite activity, explore a hobby or discover something new. It is an exciting time for diverse and varied physical activities for children. Every swimming pool, gymnasium, dance studio, trail, ski slope, museum, and community organizations offer a mind spinning number choices for March break activities for children. The amount of camp choices out there is daunting. There are your standard sport, dance, and swimming camps. How about circus, best of broadway, living in a medieval worlds and chase dragons or ghost hunting? March Break camps extremely attractive and spots fill up fast. There are plenty of benefits—they can learn, explore their passions, be active, and build lasting friendships. But most importantly, to have fun! Share your success!

Program Winter Adventures with Monkey March Break Camp

Program Active Kids March Break Day Camp

Description Dalhousie University turns Dalplex over to the kids for March Break. Active Kids March Break Day Camp, for children aged five to 10, offers an action-packed week of sports, games and crafts as well as outings and a daily swim. There are also specialized camps for basketball, climbing and an Outdoor Rangers camp for youth who want to explore the natural world.

Program Jungle Romp March Break

Description This camp is based on the Rudyard Kipling's Jungle Book. Using the sound track from Walt Disney's movie children ages 6-12 will be introduced to the incredible world of dance and movement in a fun, non competitive environment. Children will explore dance technique, drumming and physical theatre skills while developing creativity, focus, and self awareness. Kids wear active comfortable clothes , dance shoes, socks or sneakers.

Program Strive for Five at School as a March Break Activity

Description

Strive for Five! A Guide to Promoting Fruit and Vegetables, March 10, at Lawrencetown Education Centre and Lawrencetown Consolidated School in Annapolis County. Community partners and students got to try a few of the Strive for Five at School! recipes, prepared by the students and school cafeteria staff. Students in Nova Scotia's public schools are already enjoying healthy foods and beverages, thanks to the Food and Nutrition Policy for Nova Scotia Public Schools. Strive for Five at School! takes it a step further, focusing on promoting and preparing in-season local fruits and vegetables and highlighting the importance of children and youth eating five servings of fruits and vegetables during the school day.

Program You’ve Got to Move it! March Break in Your Own Backyard

Description

Doctors Nova Scotia has teamed up with Sport Nova Scotia and the Chronicle Herald to produce an educational supplement geared to Grade 4 students across the province. Entitled You’ve got to move it, move it!, the cartoon-style supplement includes a crossword puzzle and a healthy living challenge focusing on the theme of a healthy lifestyle. The supplement also comes with a teachers’ guide containing information and creative activities that can be incorporated into the classroom. For ideas on how you can get active and live a healthy life check out Drew and Taylor’s schoolyard and neighbourhood adventures.
